Kevin & Kate Smith
The voyage to creating Tivoli Wines began in the late 1980's when Kevin and I met as undergraduate students at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. We married in 1990, and then spent the next decade and a half traveling the globe, researching (and tasting) great wine along the way. We traveled all over France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Switzerland, and even Korea and quickly discovered that no matter what culture you find yourself in, wine seems to be a common thread. We always had a vision of someday bringing that experience to our hometown and sharing a love of wine with our friends and neighbors. Kevin went on to get a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle University and I went on to become a lawyer, with a J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University. Life takes you in different directions, but 18 years later, our dream of owning a wine shop became a reality in late 2006. Kevin, being a Lubbock native, has always had a palate for the new world wines, while I am from England and the old world wines such as Chateau Neuf de Pape have always been my favorites. Kevin's study of viticulture at Texas Tech and a love of Texas have led him to be somewhat of a resident expert on the Texas Winemaking industry. Tivoli Wines is definitely a family affair, with my parents, Gerard and Kathleen Hennessey as partners in the business too. Our 10 year old, Callie, make a great latte too! We hope that Tivoli Wines will be the answer to your search for a great wine experience in the metroplex and we look forward to seeing you at our next tasting. Cheers!! |
